The Vankleek Hill & District Historical Society has applied for a grant from the 2023 federal Canada Summer Jobs programme.Two openings as Assistant Curator for 8 weeks beginning the week of July 3rd, 2023.Location: 95 Main Street East, Vankleek Hill ON.8 weeks; 35 hour/week; $16.00/hr. Includes weekend work.

Mini-essay: half-page about a favourite landmark.Bilingualism is an asset.Description of Tasks: You will be provided with guidance.Enjoy developing the design and interpretive content for the new permanent exhibit that honours the Indigenous presence here. You will learn about museum artefact assessment. The database training will serve you well in future jobs. You will be introduced to local history. You will have fun learning about, & helping people with, genealogy research. Help with preservation work. Work on monthly newsletter. Day-to-day activities include: welcome visitors, maintain social media hub, keep museum clean & tidy.Only short-listed applicants will be called for in-person interviews.Notes:Canada Summer Jobs programme sets 30 as the maximum age for applicants. You are not required to be a student in school.
